With a friendly web interface, integration to all the Brazilian mobile operators and powerful content filtering and auditing processes, Lembreto allows SMS channels with end-user or content-producer charging to be set up in a matter of seconds. Small content producers can take advantage of business models used in the telecom industry and monetize their audience in a way that was previously only available to large corporations.

However, the most interesting thing about Lembreto, which shows very clearly that it fits in perfectly with the concept of the long tail and provides widespread access to value added services, is its API. We have created a programming interface that allows any developer to use Lembreto as part of the infrastructure for their SMS application. The design therefore not only allows Aorta to gain access to operators, but also gives the whole IT market access to operators on an equal footing.

The innovative design has opened up a plethora of opportunities and, not surprisingly, there are already more than 130,000 active users, between producers and consumers of content, and over 25,000 SMS channels set up. The platform is used by small independent content producers, developers of all sizes and even major brand names and communications groups, such as Editora 3 (Isto É). Using the API, more than 100 developers have created applications that are made technically feasible by Lembreto.

It is worth noting that Lembreto contains all the links in the technical chain, from the ESME (External Short Message Entity) to the web application, and can be used in a wide variety of situations and solutions. Also, for those interested in the more technical aspects of mobile telephony, it is interesting to note that Lembreto was introduced before the set of protocols used by OneAPI and is one of a very small number of implementations worldwide of a multi-operator “Service Exposure Layer”.
